- 2008 Volkswagen Tiguan Diesel
-

Volkswagen certainly did not waste any time in brining out the Tiguan immediately after unveiling the VW concept version of the 2008 Tiguan TDi last week at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The new Tiguan is a small SUV and VW plans to sell it with a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine in the U.S. What makes the release of the Tiguan special is that it will be the only small SUV in the United States with a diesel engine which in turn offers a fuel economy gain of over 30 percent over a gasoline engine. Of course the TDi not only meets the US standards but also those around the world.

Volkswagen also plans to offer the Tiguan with a gasoline engine, the specs of which are yet to be disclosed. The gasoline engine is planed to be introduced next fall as mentioned by the VW spokesman Steve Keyes. As for the diesel engine the Tiguan Concept has a 2.0L clean TDi diesel engine as mentioned earlier which is the diesel engine of the next generation. It produced 140hp and a 200ft/lb of torque. Running much cleaner than many of its diesel competitors the new catalytic converter reduces nitrogen oxides by 90% over today’s diesels. The Tiguan will most likely be available with the engine options which include the previously mention VW’s clean TDi 2.0L Turbocharged Diesel and possibly even a V-6.Rear Corner

The black panoramic moon roof goes well with the orange.

The tires with orange rims are unique to the Tiguan

Speaking of the exterior the Volkswagen has done a good job with the colour combinations of the orange main body, the chrome and the black panoramic moon roof. That along with the front grille and a smooth finish with the headlamps coupled with the VW logo gives the car a very aggressive look for a small SUV. The orange rims on the tires go well with the car too. VW has struck a balance in making the car look cute and also giving it a lot of style. Even though at first it might appear as a toy car from Toys-R-Us, a second look and its clear that it demands respect and even deserves it. It is indeed a fantastic car with a superb engine featuring a new common-rail, high-pressure fuel-injection system and Bluetec emissions technology. We know that people are just waiting to get their hands on the wheel of this one.
