Top Gear - Bugatti Veyron Speed Test

bugatti-veyron.jpgHere is a video of the test run of Bugatti’s new Veyron done by Top Gear presenter, James May. The Veyron is the world fastest road car, which comes equipped with a 16-cylinder engine and four turbo-chargers, generating a lot of heat for which it needs 10 radiators. Watch James as he takes the car for a spin on VW’s test track in Germany and pushes it to its limit by reaching the Top Speed of the car. Words fail to describe the speed generated by the sheer 1001 hp on this beast. It is something you will have to see to believe.

Earlier this year Volkswagen had ditched Proton as a possible equity partner after the Malaysians refused to relinquish management control. The Siamese twins? VW yin yang? Or the VW love bugs? Hah! It sure is a good practical joke and whoever is responsible sure put a lot of thinking and creativity in it.

Touareg TDI tugs a 155-tonne Boeing 747

touareg_747_main.jpg
It was a show of pure monstrous power at the runway, Dunsfold Aerodrome in the UK as a VW Touareg TDI equipped with a V10 engine tugged a Boeing 747 weighing at 155-tonnes. What’s more striking is that Volkswagen claimed to have made no changes to the production version of the car except for the fitment of the 4.56 axle ratio from the Touareg V8 model in place of the 3.27 gearing of the V10.

2008 Volkswagen Tiguan Diesel

2008%20Volkswagen%20Tiguan.jpg
Volkswagen certainly did not waste any time in brining out the Tiguan immediately after unveiling the VW concept version of the 2008 Tiguan TDi last week at the Los Angeles Auto Show. The new Tiguan is a small SUV and VW plans to sell it with a 2.0-liter turbocharged diesel engine in the U.S. What makes the release of the Tiguan special is that it will be the only small SUV in the United States with a diesel engine which in turn offers a fuel economy gain of over 30 percent over a gasoline engine. Of course the TDi not only meets the US standards but also those around the world.
