Toyota Blade

Copy%20of%20toyota_blade_1.jpgToyota had officially introduced the new and improved version of the Auris called the “Blade”. The Blade has been developed as a high-class hatchback for stylish adults aimed at achieving a new appeal by satisfying the pride of those in it and offering them a sense of fun with eye-catching advanced styling, as well as with the safety and comfort features and driving performance of a luxury sedan, all in an easy-to-handle size.

As per Toyotas claim the Blade is aimed at an older part of the population (around 40-60) which makes me wonder on the choice of the name “Blade”. In terms of improvements the Blade come with a more powerful 2.4L super CVT-I engine giving a 167HP and a torque of 224Nm compared to the original Auris which just produced 136HP and 175Nm.

There have however been rumors of a sports version of the Blade scheduled to come out in August 2007 which is a 2GR-FE V6 engine of 3.5L, 280Hp and 344Nm. Now that’s not a car for the old folks!

Here are some Photos of the Blade giving a good idea about the interior and the exterior design.

I understand that the Blade will be selling at a basic price of around 24 000$ US. Presently, the matrix sells at a basic price of around 18 000$ CDN (base FWD).
Can we realy say then that the Blade replaces the Matrix?
