The Suzuki Grand Vitara is a sports utility vehicle and an "off-road athlete” as described by Suzuki themselves. First introduced as a 2006 model, the Grand Vitara has garnered much media and consumer praise and has won numerous awards, including a "Best Buy" from Consumer Guide. The Grand Vitara comes in three trim levels: Base, XSport and Luxury. The standard five-speed manual transmission and two-wheel drive starts at an MSRP of $19,379. The Grand Vitara with Luxury Package and Four-Mode full-time four-wheel-drive system drives comes at $23,399.

The competitors of the Grand Vitara include the Honda CR-V, Hyundai Tucson and Toyota RAV4. The changes in the 2007 model are to the minimum. The Vitara is Unibody in construction and has a built-in ladder frame. It measures at 176.0 inches long, the Grand Vitara rides on a 103.9-inch wheelbase. A moonroof is included with the Luxury edition. Rear legroom in the five-passenger Grand Vitara is increased by 4.7 inches over the 2005 model, as well as the interior width by 4.7 inches. The 60/40-split, folding rear seat offers fold-and-tumble operation.
The car comes with a 2.7-liter V-6 by Suzuki that produces 185 horsepower at 6,000 rpm and 184 pounds-feet of torque at 4,500 rpm. Upper-end models have a five-speed automatic transmission, but a five-speed manual gearbox is standard in base models. The four-mode four-wheel-drive system, an option for XSport and Luxury models, includes 4H, 4H Lock (slippery) and 4L Lock positions. The limited-slip center differential and the rear-wheel drive come standard with the vehicle. A single-mode four-wheel-drive system is offered for base models.
As for the safety the car comes with Seat-mounted side-impact airbags and side curtain airbags as standard and the Four-channel antilock brakes that incorporate electronic brake-force distribution.
