Switzerland bans red-light & speed trap warning satnavs

nuvi_photo_main.jpgAs per the new laws introduced in Switzerland it is now against the law to sell GPS navigation devices that give the driver warnings about stationary and mobile radar traps as well as traffic light cameras. If a motorist was found using any such device they might face fines or even jail time in some cases. The authorities have send out a list of such equipments of banned devices to all the salespeople and include companies like the TomTom, Navman, Sony and ViaMichelin. Even though the companies claim that such features increases road safety the authorities think otherwise.

Such rules are very important in my opinion. This will ensure that the driver follow the rules consistently throughout rather than just following them when they receive a warning. This law may also be introduced by other countries that want to make sure that drivers don’t go around the law.
