- Mercedes unveils the four-door convertible
-
After been rumored for being in the works for over five months the new Mercedes S-Class convertible is not a rumor anymore. Mercedes has officially unveiled the all new S-Class convertible now called the Concept Ocean Drive. It is based on the Mercedes S600 and is designed with the aim of reviving the tradition of convertibles in the luxury car segment. The new Concept Ocean Drive is similar to the appearance to a traditional S-Class.
Photo Gallery After JumpDesigned on the Mercedes Benz S 600 the car has a long wheelbase. Technical highlights include:
1. The innovative soft-top mechanism resulting in smooth operation and fast closing times
2. The innovative AIRSCARF neck-level heating system, which is featured on all four seats, allowing occupants to enjoy top-down motoring even in the colder months of the year.Needless to say, the on-board equipment also includes top-level Mercedes-Benz innovations, some of which are unique worldwide – including Brake Assist PLUS, the innovative PRE-SAFE® brake system (in combination with radar-based DIS-TRONIC PLUS) and the PRE-SAFE® anticipatory occupant protection system.
Under the hood it has a V-12 lifted from a S600 and both cars are based on the same platform. The car looks very elegant and extremely stunning and seems to be ready to take the 4-door convertible segment. However, if the car comes into production or not is one question that only time will answer and all we can do is wait and hope for it. Meanwhile here are some photos of the new concept.
