Mercedes dealers oppose Smart in America

Mercedes-Benz dealers urged DaimlerChrysler CEO Dieter Zetsche not to bring the Smart car to the United States, according to Doug Callahan, chairman of the Mercedes dealer council. Callahan told Auto News that the dealers are worried about Smart hurting the Mercedes-Benz image. We go the news last month that the DaimlerChrysler announced its plans to bring the Smart brand to the U.S. in 2008. There is no idea till about what sort of agreement will DaimlerChrysler make with its nervous dealers.
