Ice replica of McLaren Mercedes F1 car

26kimi.jpgTo declare the creation of the diamond steering wheels, Steinmetz made to order the construction of an exact imitation of this year's Team McLaren Mercedes F1 car, made from two tons of ice. Kimi Raikkonen added to the celebration by sitting into the ice car. McLaren Mercedes and diamond creators Steinmetz unveiled their latest collaboration, a diamond steering wheel, to mark the 40th anniversary of the Formula One team. It’s not the first time these two are working in collaboration as last year there were diamond helmets for the team created specially by Steinmetz. Actually the steering wheel is not made of diamonds; it’s the star in the centre that has been decorated with round, dazzling cut, white, natural diamonds, proficiently cut by Steinmetz.

This gives a visual impact inside the cockpit that was never seen before. It is for the first time that a sponsor has been permitted to modify the interior of the drivers' cockpit. Steinmetz is thus encouraging Raikkonen and fellow driver Juan Pablo Montoya for achieving a victory.
