Self-parking Lexus LS 460

So how many of you dread the parallel parking test when getting your drivers license. I know I did, but nothing like a little practice to get it perfect. Along the same lines Lexus has now introduced the LS 460 Self-parking system for the lazy or maybe even for people with $ 73,000 and nothing to spend it on. The system by itself is ingenious and user friendly with a lot of hard work put in by the programmers and the designers but is simply a waste. Why? Well…it’s simple. If u can’t park a car I don’t want you driving on the roads and I doubt that even the DMV would want that.

What I believe is that the Self-park feature can be considered to be the first of its kind and will give way to many more features along the same lines. So when I look at the new Lexus LS 460 it feels like the auto drive cars from movie like I- Robot are not very far.

Of course u might have seen some videos with a trio of dimwits behind the wheel trying to ridicule the system by showing how hard it is (see source). But that’s not the real case. For an automated system it is very user-friendly and simple to use as long as u read the instruction manual. The video for the same can be seen here.

All things considered Kudos to the engineers at Lexus who developed this. Even though I don’t support the spoon feeding and that too at a huge price tag I still have to appreciate the innovation and the pure genius behind this system.
