The Lexus GS 450h is one of the nine cars that Playboy magazine picked up for the 2007 cars of the year category. It’s refers to as THE AL GORE SPECIAL: Lexus GS 450h Sports sedan hybrid that combines a 3.5-liter V6 with a high-output electric-drive motor. This hybrid sedan was introduced at the March 23, 2005 New York Auto Show and began arriving in showrooms in the May of 2006.The 2007 Lexus GS 450h is a rear wheel drive full hybrid enabling it to travel at low speeds under electric propulsion alone. It shares the parallel hybrid technology as found in the Lexus RX 400h Hybrid SUV. The car is rated by the EPA for 25 mpg city/ 28 mpg highway.
The 2007 Lexus GS 450h has a 3.5 liter V6 engine combined with a permanent magnet motor. Lexus says the GS 450h is rated at 339 combined horsepower with the gas engine and electric motor. Lexus claims the 0-60 acceleration is 5.2 seconds. For perspective, the 2006 GS 430 has a 4.3 liter V8 that has 300 horsepower. The rear wheels of the 2007 GS 450h is driven by a 197 horsepower, 147 Kw, permanent magnet motor. The GS 450h has a 288V hybrid battery pack that produces 35 Kw of power and consists of 240 cells.
Along with its characteristic hybrid badging, the GS 450h boasts the same striking design as the popular GS 430. An exclusive wheel design distinguishes the GS 450h from other GS models. This power tilt-and-slide moon roof features an auto open-and-close function as well as a sliding sunshade. With this the exterior is smooth and gives the sedan a cool look.
Soft leather trim and a choice of wood accents are just some of the luxurious features included in the GS 450h. The interior is very smooth with the leather and offers a very inviting feel to it with stylish colors.
