Honda Motor to launch small car in India

honda-logo-vtec_1024x768_k.jpgGood news for the Indians! Honda will be launching an all-new car in India in the premium hatchback segment. This will happen in the next 2-3 years and Honda has expected to sell around 1.5 lakh units. "The small car, which will be a premium hatchback, is likely to be out in India in the next 2-3 yrs," Masahiro Takedagawa, President and CEO of Honda's Indian joint venture Honda Siel Cars India (HSCI) told the media here.

What’s special is that this new car will really be an all-new car which is currently under development and India is going to be the lead country for its release. This means that this car will be made by keeping in mind the Indian way of living while it is being developed. Also for this purpose Honda is planning to invest around $200 million for building a new plant for this.

A car developed specially for Indian standards by the elite automakers over at Honda really sounds like a scrumptious feast for the people of India. Too bad we have to wait for 2-3 years, but all good things take time to come to pass none-the-less.
