-
At the Australian International Motor Show in Sydney in October 2005 a wild 21st Century hot rod reincarnating Australia’s most famous car, the FJ Holden, was unveiled. This concept car drew a lot attention and will now be shown at the upcoming North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month – the first time it has been seen outside Australia.EFIJY is a contemporary reincarnation of an iconic Australian-made 1953 Holden FJ sedan. Here are the details for the FJ Holden launched in 1953.

The ‘Soprano Purple’ paintwork highlights its curvaceous 5.2-metre body, reinterpreting the classic design cues of the iconic 1953 FJ Holden. The car has been featured in magazines, websites and television programs around the world. Its most critical acclaim came from the U.S. when it was named Hot Rod of the Year by the influential Hot Rod magazine.
EFIJY chief designer Richard Ferlazzo, who will be at NAIAS with the vehicle, said having the car at the biggest event in the world’s biggest car culture was incredible recognition for everyone who worked on the project. “It’s fantastic for our design organization to be recognized in the world’s biggest car culture,” he said. “Ed Welburn has been such a big supporter of Holden Design and the car itself and he was really the one who made this happen. “It’s kind of like selling ice to the eskimos when you have a car at the Detroit show. I can’t wait to see the reaction from the American public.”
The new EFIJY brings back memories from the FJ Holden days and the glorious custom coupes of the 1930s and 1950s. This particular concept even though not intended for production will attract a lot of people towards it on the basis of the history it shares with the 1953 FJ. So here is something for the people at the Detroit Auto Show to remember their past.

Car with soul!

This is the best car I have ever seen in my life. I am 53 years young, & I,ve loved FX's & FJ's ever since I've been able to recognise cars.I still own my 55 FJ sedan That I purchased when I was 22. When I was 24 I also purchased a 55 panel van (no side windows) which I still own.
I absolutely love these cars, and I would pay anything to own EFIJY or even to see it in real life would be such an honour. My dream is that GMH will see the benefit of producing a small production run of these cars because there are die-hards like me who just have to have one & would pay anything to get one.
