Jaguar C-XF Concept – Detroit Auto Show

jag_concept.jpgJaguar’s new concept car, the C-XF will make its public debut at the North American International Auto Show in Detroit next month. With this car Jaguar reveals the design direction for the next decade or more and offers clues to the appearance of the forth coming S-type replacement, the X and also the next generation of the XJ luxury sedan. The four-door coupe has been designed by Ian Callum, the designer of the Aston Martin Range and the latest Jaguar XK. He said that “This is about re-establishing Jaguar,” he says.

“It’s the classic ‘car in the rear-view mirror’ look, with everything powering rearwards from the grille,” explains Callum. The grille is accompanied by narrow headlights with the lenses having a abstract Jaguar logo which is also repeated on the door sills and the tread pattern of the 21-inch Pirelli tires. However, some of these details may not make it to the production version. Also there have been several concerns that the new car looks completely different and has no similarities with the old Jaguars, but Callum is unconcerned. “It is an exaggerated vision of the future. It doesn’t matter if people don’t recognize it as a Jaguar… it will become a Jaguar.”

As for the interior there have also been several improvements with the new “cockpit” feel high-seating and an aluminum center console. The car has a total of four individual sports seats. “Jaguar is recognized for tailoring cars in wood and leather, but we have turned that on its head by treating these traditional materials in an unusual and contemporary fashion,” says Alister Whelan, one of the designers responsible. There is no visible stitching on the seats or fascia. “This creates the impression that the interior is wrapped in leather,” explains Whelan.

The car will have a tuned version of the Jaguar XKR’s 4.2-liter supercharged V8 and will deliver ‘in excess of’ 420hp and 368lb ft of torque and could, in theory, power the rear-wheel drive concept to 180mph. it will feature the same 6-speed automatic transmission that partners with the V8 in the XKR.

Here are some photos of the new Jaguar C-XF concept which will give you a more visual idea of the new design features in the exteriors and interiors.

This is the nicest thing jag has come out with in a long time other than the XK8 or XJ220

This car is like something between imprezza, mustang, mazda and armadillo. This is not a cat. But quality still counts!
