Driverless bus – Who wants to be first?

Copy%20of%20driverless_bus.jpgThe driverless bus is a bold and brave new concept coming out of the U.K. It is as the name suggests indeed driverless and this “bus” can be hailed by you just with the help of you cell phone. It will run on an electric and biofuel hybrid platform and will be having a 12 to 24 passenger’s capacity. Just like the Mobileye AWS technology (which keeps you from getting too close to vehicles in front of you) this bus will come equipped with a similar system which will run by finding its way following magnets embedded in the road pavement and also will be using a satellite navigation and onboard sensors to control their speed and direction.

This bus is a good concept but as always I prefer it when humans are kept in the loop especially when its things like public transport and steering. However, we will have to wait around 10 more years for this to become reality…and even then I might be a little hesitant before sitting in one of these.
