All-new 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible

On 29th Nov, 2006 Chrysler introduced the new 2008 Chrysler Sebring convertible at the Los Angeles Auto Show. This convertible shares a lot with the 2007 Chrysler Sebring Sedan and has a lot to offer than most convertibles in the market. Chrysler Sebring Convertible also offers what no other convertible has offered before - the customer's choice of three automatically latching convertible top options which include vinyl, cloth and a body-colour steel retractable hard top. All three lids share the same underlying structure, and are designed by Karmann. The folding steel top will make the Sebring the lowest priced convertible to offer a solid roof.

Demonstration of the 2008 Chrysler Sebring Convertible

Any of the three can be retracted with a push of a button on the key console. It also includes a standard power hard tonneau cover on all models, and top up or down. On both soft and hard tops, the easy-to-use convertible top folds in three segments. Replaced with convenient automatic latching owners also can drop the top with a switch on the instrument panel, or with the press of the button on the key console.

The soft top takes about 24 seconds to raise or retract, while the hard top takes about 29 seconds. A standard automatic hard tonneau cover neatly conceals the top stowage area when the convertible top is down.

Interior.

Interior of the 2008 Sebring convertible is as welcoming as, if not more than its sedan counterpart. Engine choices match those found in the sedan as does most of the interior, including the dashboard. Noteworthy items on the options list are the key-fob operation for the power top, the “My Gig” hard-drive stereo system that can store up to twenty gigs of data, music, and photos, and a heated and cooled cup holder. This is much like the 2007 Chrysler Sebring Sedan.

There are many mixed reactions with this convertible that Chrysler has introduced. Some agree that it is a improvement on the 2007 Sebring Sedan where as some don’t. However Chrysler has done good job with maintaining the original exterior look of the sedan and providing a smooth transition to the convertible. The interior cream colour in the Limited level shown compliments the red exterior and provides a smooth finish with the sheet metal of the rear trunk stowage area. Overall Chrysler has done a good job of providing a convertible brother to the remarkable 2007 Sebring Sedan.
