Chrysler has officially unveiled the 2007 Sebring sedan to tackle the midsize sedan market, a segment in which the company has had little success. The Chrysler Sebring is completely redesigned and will be going up against their competitors, the Toyota Camry and Honda Accord which dominate this segment. It's a brand new platform with it's entirely new exterior, interior and everything under the skin. It's got some exciting new power trains as well and a lot of technology built into the vehicle that was not in its predecessor.

The Sebring is available in Sedan, Touring and Limited trim levels.

It is powered by a new World Engine which is a 172 horsepower 2.4L DOHC (Double overhead camshafts) four-cylinder engine and gives a fuel efficiency of 24 mpg (mile per gallon) for the city and 32 mpg for the highway. In addition to that particular engine it also comes with a 2.7L V6 with 190 horsepower. Ofcourse for people who want more performance the Sebring comes with the optional 3.5L V6 235 horsepower with six speeds automatic transmission for the Limited level. It is a front wheel drive with a wheelbase of 108.9 inches.

The Sebring comes with a new vehicle system called the "My Gig". It includes a navigational system and a 20GB hard drive along with a USB port and an MP3 plug, to plug in MP3 players like the iPod. It comes equipped with voice-activated Bluetooth technology for your cell phones, so it's all hands-free communication. It has a music juke box along with video playback capability and photos only when the vehicle is in the parked position.

Other features include:

1. YES Essentials(R) stain-resistant, odor resistant, anti-static seat fabric

2. Available DVD rear-seat video entertainment system that includes AM/FM stereo radio with MP3 capable CD/DVD Player, six-disc CD/DVD Changer and SIRIUS Satellite Digital Audio Radio (late availability).

3. Heated/cooled front cup holder for keeping cool beverages cool and hot beverages hot. Cup holder can heat beverage to 140 degrees F or cool to nearly freezing at 35 degrees F.

4. Light-Emitting Diode (LED) interior lighting with high-focus white lights in both the front and rear seats (late availability).

5. Available remote start.

6. Express down front windows on the key fobs.

7. 60/40 fold-flat rear seats.

8. Available heated cloth front seats.

9. Available heated leather seats.

10. Available fold-flat front passenger seats.

11. Cabin air-filtration system.

12. Sliding center console armrest bin with dual bin front seat storage.

13. Tilt and telescoping steering wheel.

Interior: The textures of the materials used in the interior of the vehicle give a very luxurious and inviting appearance to it. Seats are made of Yes Essentials fabric which is exclusive for Chrysler. The unique chemical that's actually woven into the material repels pretty much any type of stain, like ketchup, mustard, soda, coffee etc. You can even take a permanent marker, mark the seat and it'll all come out. It's also odor repellant and helps reduce static electricity. The cabin includes three backlit instrument portals, a two-tone dashboard and an analog clock. A center console flows towards the stereo and climate controls, which is a straightforward three-dial layout. The Sebring's cabin is 9 percent roomier than its predecessor's and the same as the Accord, Camry and Fusion. Trunk space measures just 13.6 cubic feet, a 15 percent decrease from the previous Sebring, and considerably smaller than all three competitors. Fortunately, the front passenger seat has an optional fold-flat feature to accommodate longer cargo through the 60/40-split, folding rear seat.

Exterior: Chrysler calls the new Sebring's sheet metal "sleek" and "elegant". Most of the exterior is based on the 2003 Airflite concept car which includes the raked grooves in the hood, character lines on the side of the vehicle and also the shorter rear deck lid that was part of the Airflite concept vehicle. Sixteen-inch steel wheels are standard. Alloy wheels in 17- and 18-inch diameters are optional. At 190.6 inches in length, the Sebring is roughly even with its predecessor, as well as the Camry, Accord and Fusion. Height measures at 59 inches, exceeding the competitors by more than an inch.

Safety: Antilock brakes, side-impact airbags for the front seats and side curtain airbags are standard. An electronic stability system is optional for Touring and Limited models.

All-in-all it's a sleek car with a efficient engine and with an option for a more powerful one for those who have a need for speed and truckload of features that maybe unnecessary for some but a blessing for people who can use them. With this the Chrysler Group aims to go up against the Accord, Camry and Fusion in the midsize section. Only time will tell if the Sebring is successful.
