Formerly known as the ‘Paris Dakar’ or ‘Paris to Dakar Rally’, the endurance race is now simply known as the ‘Dakar Rally’ or ‘Dakar’ since the course changes slightly every year, and has recently been starting from Lisbon. From Portugal, the race was <a href="http://www.dakar.com/2008/DAK/presentation/us/r3_5-le-parcours.html"title="scheduled to traverse">scheduled to traverse Morocco, Western Sahara, and Mauritania to the Senegalese capital, Dakar. Basically it’s a lot of awesome 4x4 driving across sands and grasslands. The race is famed for stunning images of cars, bikes, quads and trucks in a desert abyss and video clips of these vehicles hurdling through the unknown of each stage. Over 500 teams take part in the event, with the vast majority of competitors taking motorbikes or cars. A truly international event, the 2008 rally participants were set to represent fifty nationa
lities.

So what’s the solution? I think the answer is simple. The time has come for all my fellow couch-potatoes to get out there and partake in a little extreme do-it-yourself. Why not recreate your own Dakar Rally with a few mates and a driving gift experience? There are plenty of centres and organisations offering driving gift vouchers – just a quick search online reveals a whole host of unbelievable adrenaline-rush afternoons and weekends away. Don’t procrastinate and put it off for some Christmas gift ideas, treat yourself and your mates today – get out there and have the experience of a lifetime!

The car adopts distinctive aeronautical styling like the two passenger seats in a cockpit fashion and enclosed in teardrop shaped canopy just like in a fighter jet. The Vadho doesn’t include the traditional wheel but comes with a pair of joystick controls.

The car looks like an encouraging concept but I wonder if the location of the engine on one side of the car will imbalance it at high speeds. All things considered this is one car to look at, at the Geneva Auto Show this March.

The QarmaQ develops and validates over 30 key technologies, which will be selectively incorporated into Hyundai’s new models to be rolled out from 2008-2014.

“At Hyundai, we believe in innovation for humanity, and QarmaQ demonstrates our commitment to safety innovation and our determination to bring more environmentally responsible technologies to the market,” said Dr. Kwon Moon-Shik, Hyundai Motor's vice president of advanced technology. “We chose to partner with GE Plastics because of their commitment to the environment and their wide range of innovative materials and technical capabilities. Technologies from QarmaQ will provide Hyundai owners with a safer, more environmentally responsible car and a better driving experience.”

The car is a treat to look at and no matter how I describe it; it won’t do justice to this awesome design. It would be best for you to refer the images and video of the car.

Honda Small Hybrid Sports Concept, a design study model, demonstrates a unique fusion of advanced environmental technology, exciting styling and fun-to-drive characteristics. The car comes equipped with 165/60 section tires mounted on 20-inch distinctive rims. Their dimension supports low rolling resistance without compromising sporty driving. The compact size of the car will ensure agility with a good power to weight ratio. Dimensions stand at 4000 mm in length, 1270 mm tall and 1760 mm wide, and the 2350 mm wheelbase.

The car could use some improvements in the exterior looks department. Now I know it has to be aerodynamically sound but this is a bit too blunt for my taste. However, Honda is headed in the right direction with this on, so I’ll give them that much.

The car can reach top speeds of a bone shattering 360 km/h. An opponent perhaps worthy of the Veyron. The car was introduced publically at this years 77th Geneva Auto Show. As you have already noticed that the car is named after the Greek God Apollo (and NOT Gumpert) the car also pleases when it comes to the interior. It offers air-condition, CD-player, navigation system and reverse view camera as standard equipment. As a special accessory the Apollo is equipped with an airjack, a pneumatic jacking pad. And yes of course such things come at a cost and the price tag on this one 300.000 EUR or 390.000 USD.

The car is indeed a beast and god-like on the tracks with very few worthy challenges. One of the noteworthy cars at this years Auto Show.

The engine will generate a max torque of 230Nm at 3.000 rpm. However, later Fiat will be coming up with the booster kit which will boost the engine to 180Hp.

This car is on of the interesting ones that will be introduced at this year Geneva Auto Show partly because it will enter a rally and the outcome will be interesting to watch.

Also the car for some reason looks angry of sort and therefore not very appealing. Under the hood the car sports a 6.1-litre V8 that pumps out 462Hp and propels the 4WD car from 0 to 100 km/h in a little more than six seconds reaching a maximum speed of 250 km/h. The car is more of a combination of various other cars like the Mercedes GL and the Honda’s US pick-up, the Ridgeline. But even with this I have a feeling this will car will fail to impress many with the lack of originality.

They have also freely admitted that car was build while keeping the Japanese roadster in mind. Comparing the two cars the Demon is a bit shorter but a bit wider, taller and heavier. It will be equipped with Chrysler’s 170Hp 2.4-liter motor with 165 ft-lbs. of torque to the rear wheels through a six-speed manual gearbox. Dodge officials also said that a number of engines could be used in the Demon, including the 1.8 or 2.0L World Engine with a 300-hp motor.

The car just like any other Dodge does look very impressive. However, I cant help but think that the car lacks the sting like others in its family when it comes to exterior looks.

The car can seat 5 people and provide 500L of boot space under the luggage cover, which extends to a massive 1,734L with the rear seats folded down. The exterior has undergone some changes with a shorter rear overhang and the re-designed rear end giving it a hatchback look. Also there is an optional panoramic sunroof which makes it look like the upper half of the vehicle is completely surrounded by glass.

As for the engines the car comes with four choices - 127hp 1.8L and 143hp 2.0L petrol units, and 110hp 1.6L and 138hp 2.0L diesel powerplants, both fitted with Diesel Particulate Filter Systems. As per the engines the car will come with a manual, automatic or a 6-speed gearbox with paddleshift gearchange. The car maybe priced as low as €20,000 much cheaper than its 7-seater big brother.

The HHR is a four-door vehicle with a rear touch-pad liftgate that combines styling and interior adaptability to create a vehicle suited to all lifestyles. It does have a little VW Beetle-ish look about it thanks to the exterior design, which does look good actually.

Under the hood, the HHR comes with an option of two technologically sophisticated inline four-cylinder engines, which balances usable power with fuel and emissions efficiency: the 2.2L engine with 149hp and torque of 210 Nm and the 2.4L unit with 175 hp and torque of 228 Nm. The company also claims that the car is “Fun to drive and Spacious”. The first true-blue all American car headed for Europe does look like will do good when it is introduced.
